House Accounts
What is a House Account?
A house account is simply a joint account with multiple authorized users. Upperclassmen tend to open these accounts when they live, pay bills and buy groceries together. One person will have the account tied to his/her name, but all joint users are equally liable for the account and all will have access to it at any time.
Can we pay bills, write checks or use a debit card?
Yes. If your group is writing multiple checks each month to landlords, utility companies, etc., then it might be a good idea to order a book of checks for your house account. You can also use money orders. A debit card would be a good way to pay your bills too as well as groceries.
