House Accounts

A house account is simply a joint account with multiple authorized users.

Upperclassmen tend to open these accounts when they live, pay bills and buy groceries together. One person will have the account tied to their name, but all joint users are equally liable for the account and will have access to it at any time.

Can we pay bills, write checks or use a debit card?

Yes. If your group is writing multiple checks each month, then it might be a good idea to order a book of checks for your house account. You can also use money orders. A debit card would be a good way to pay your bills and pay for groceries.
